I hadn’t touched a camera in years, but when I was well into my 30s, I started taking pictures simply because I was struck by beauty. I began in the garden with the flowers and plants. I practiced framing what struck me, pressing the button, studying the photos I took, and trying again and again to communicate the beauty I saw. Over time, I ventured farther into natural and human landscapes, and I came to recognize in my photography a spiritual practice as much as a hobby. Through the process of seeing, framing, exposing, and then reviewing, I notice with fresh awareness what God is doing in the world. “…And it is marvelous in our eyes!” (Psalm 118:23)
